Alan Louis Johnson, a dedicated public servant and accomplished athlete, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at Willowcreek Rehabilitation Facility. He was 72 years old.
Born on April 16, 1953, in St. Louis, Missouri, Alan was the beloved son of Ozell and Erma Dell Johnson. He grew up with a passion for justice and a gift for speed, both of which shaped the course of his life.
Alan graduated from Emporia State University in Kansas in 1975, where he was celebrated as a star sprinter on the university's track team. His athleticism and discipline on the track mirrored the commitment he later brought to his career in public service.
For many years, Alan served as a Juvenile Probation Officer for Jackson County, Missouri. In this role, he was known for his compassion, integrity, and unwavering belief in the potential of young people. His work touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on the community he served.
Alan lived a quiet, principled life. Though he never married or had children, he was deeply devoted to his family and took pride in his roots. He carried the legacy of his parents, Ozell and Erma Dell, with dignity and grace.
Alan will be remembered for his strength, his service, and the steady kindness he offered to those around him; as well as a superb sense of humor. His memory lives on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the lives he helped shape.
Alan is survived by brothers Ronald "Butch" (Gwen) and Walter (Robbia) Johnson; and by his sister Kathy Johnson-Campbell. He also leaves to mourn his Aunt Wanda Darby and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
His survivors want to also express appreciation for friend, Roland (Mattie) Jones who visited Alan weekly and provided the family with updates on his health.
