Fred Binion was born on February 10, 1935 to John and Mary (Long) Binion, who preceded him in death.
He was educated in the public Schools in Florida, high school in Tuskegee, AL and obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Business from Lincoln University in Jefferson City, MO where he was a member of Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity. Prior to finishing college, Bro. Binion served honorably in the United States Army. He retired from American Envelope Company and then worked as a school bus driver.
Brother Binion accepted Christ at an early age and in later years chose Tri-Union AME Church as his church home where he served in many capacities including Church Treasurer, Steward, Trustee, President of the Lay Organization, member of the Mass Choir and the Male Chorus. Brother Binion also served as church custodian, most of the time without compensation. Brother Binion faithfully served on the Wednesday Feeding Ministry. He prepared breakfast each and every Sunday for over 20 years specializing in the best salmon croquets in St. Louis.
Brother Binion was an avid reader, read the newspaper daily, and enjoyed solving the crossword puzzle.
On February 8, 1986, he married the love of his life Betty. Together they raised six (6) children, three of which preceded him in death (Reginald, Steven and Darryl Robinson). He is also preceded in death by two (2) brothers-in-law (Elder Shelton and Donald Smith), sister Louise Shelton, brother John Binion Jr.
He leaves to cherish his memory wife of 38 years Betty, daughters Sonya Reid, Michelle Williams (STL), and Constance Daniels (Muncie, IN), four (4) Sister-in-Laws Jessie and Jessica; Cathy and April; three (3) brothers-in-law, Leonard, Leroy, and Johnnie; eleven (11) grandchildren, 19 Great Grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, his beloved church family and many friends.
