GARY FONVILLE SR. Obituary

Staff Sgt. Gary Leon Fonville, Sr was born in Arkansas to the union of Garland and Semaddie, who both preceded him in death, as well as his beloved late stepfather, Melvin Townsend, and grandmother, the late Berthola.

Staff Sgt. Gary graduated from Little Rock Metropolitan Vo-Tech with certification in mechanics and general studies. He retired from the US Army after several remarkable tours of duty in Europe, The Middle East and Asia. During his tours, he won many international awards as a champion chess and billiards wizard. Staff Sgt. Gary was humble and never bragged about
his amazing performance over celebrity competitors. He was a dedicated employee for ten years with the Illinois department of transportation, during which time he received an award for rescuing an injured passenger from a burning vehicle, among his many acts of service.

Staff Sgt. Gary leaves to cherish his memories Gary Jr and Renee Rita, born to the union of Rita Fonville. His grandchildren whom he adored, Isaiah, Morgan, and Kaleb. His beloved aunt, Augusta-Missouri; his siblings, Roger (Jacklyn)-Michigan; Patricia-Arkansas; Jacqueline-Texas; Thomas (Bonita)-Texas; Jennifer/cousin (Ray)-Missouri; a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and friends. Whenever you ask Staff Sgt.Gary how he's doing, he would respond "Good so far."

Staff Sgt.Gary is with the Lord and his parents....he's good now.
