Gladys Moll Obituary

Gladys Perkins Moll was born November 27, 1939, the seventh of thirteen children, to Lucius and Maude Hogsett Perkins in Goodman, Mississippi.

She grew up on a farm in a very strict and religious family. Gladys accepted Christ as her personal Savior and was water baptized at Mount Mary Missionary Baptist Church in Goodman, Mississippi. It was there that she learned to do whatever good thing her hands found to do. She was an active participant in the Sunday school and worship ministries.

After graduating in 1958 from Camden High School in Camden, Mississippi, she moved to St. Louis to assist her sister, Rosa, with the rearing of her children. She was a comforting nourisher and a fantastic soul food cook. Due to her meager upbringing, she could make something great from barely nothing.

Gladys married the love of her life: Theodore "Teddy" Moll in 1969 and from this union, two beautiful daughters were born: Rochelle and Jennifer. While raising her children, Gladys also dedicated 47 years of service as a Unit Secretary at St. Louis University Hospital.

Gladys united with the Restoration Assembly of God church under the pastorate of Pastors Samuel and Yvonne Bailey. She loved cooking for the church and making sure the church looked nice. She also loved going on group trips with the church as well as with friends and family. A couple of her favorite places were Jamaica and Mexico.

Gladys prayed that God would allow her to reach seventy years of age. When her prayer was answered, she was so emotional and happy. During the early hours of November 5, 2025, Gladys was summonsed to come home after almost eighty-six years.

Gladys was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her daughter, Rochelle, and her siblings: Martha, J T, Ollie and Lucius, Jr.

Her beautiful memories will long linger with her daughter, Jennifer (Paul) West, her grandchildren: Christopher Dean, Julian Moll, Jessica Moll, Asha West, Paul Jacob West, and Aiden West; her great granddaughter, Zoe; and her siblings, Rosa Phillips and Carrie Jones of St. Louis; Ruby Moore, Clennie Sutton, Princie Morgan, Helen Morgan, Dorothy (Henry) Smith and Gloria (Milton) Ayers of Jackson, Mississippi. She will also be greatly missed and remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.
