Gussie Lee Anderson, Born August 28th, 1936, to Elroy and Ruby Anderson, in Jackson, Tennessee. She was the eldest child of their three children. She had two younger brothers: Elroy Anderson Jr, and Will Anderson. The family relocated from Tennessee to St. Louis, Missouri in the early 1950s.
Gussie attended Vashon High school and later attended Beauty School where she received her cosmetology license.
Gussie married Larry Robinson in 1968, and they were married for 48 years until his passing in 2016. Gussie had four children: Kaylo, Gerald, Belinda and Larry.
Raised in a religious household, Gussie grew up in the Baptist church and later converted to become one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in 2012. She was very proud of her faith and would spread the good news to anyone she encountered. She spoke about her faith to family and friends, strangers at the store and even staff members at the doctor’s office.
Gussie was affectionally called “Granny” by her 10 grandchildren, and over 20 great-grandchildren and a few great-great grandchildren. Gussie was known to give her tough love and wisdom to her grandchildren during any conversation.
Gussie was a homemaker and caring women since early adulthood. Her greatest accomplishments were being a beautician, caring for family members, tending to her garden and sewing. Until her health started to decline, Gussie was an active and faithful servant of Jehovah.
Gussie is preceded in death by her husband, Larry Robinson, her mother Ruby Gates, Her father Elroy Anderson and stepfather, T.G Gates. Her brothers, Elroy Anderson Jr. and Will Anderson. Three of her four children, Kaylo Anderson, Belinda Hoskins, and Larry Anderson. One granddaughter, Shanta Anderson.
Gussie is survived by her remaining son, Gerald Anderson (Stephanie). Her 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Gussie’s faith was unwavering, and she held true faith in the resurrection hope.
