We regret to announce the passing of Herbert S. Parran Sr., lovingly known as Paw Paw — a devoted husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend. He departed this life peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, joy, and deep commitment to family.
Herbert was born in Richmond Heights, Missouri, to the late George W. Parran Sr. and Irene (Phinnessee) Parran. He graduated from Vashon High School in 1952, where he met the love of his life, Lucy Mae (Johnson) Parran. They married on April 27, 1955 – a union built on love, respect, and partnership.
For over 30 years, Herbert worked as a caterer with Leonard Catering Service. He was known for his strong work ethic and care in every detail.
He was a proud father to Herbert Parran Jr. and Rodrick Parran, as well as a cherished brother. He was preceded in death by siblings Rubie Mae, Mildred, Johnnie Mae, James T. Sr., and George Jr. He is survived by his sister Frances (Parran) Lucious and brother Holland O. Parran Sr.
Herbert will be remembered for his gentle strength, humor, deep love for family, love of Christmas, and legendary mac & cheese. His spirit lives on in all who knew and loved him.
