Hubert Whitley Obituary

Hubert L Whitley Sr, the youngest son of Dallas and Callie Whitley. was born on April 09, 1933 in East St. Louis, Illinois. Both of his parents and his older brother, Halbert D. Whitley, preceded him in death.

With the guidance of his parents, Hubert joined Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in East St. Louis, Illinois. Along with his brother Halbert, he was baptized under the leadership of Rev. R. L. White.

Hubert matriculated in the East St. Louis. Illinois public school system and graduated from Lincoln High School on January 25, 1951. After high school, Hubert enlisted in the United States Air Force and faithfully served 4 years; July 1952 to July 1956. During this time, he was stationed at Carswell Airforce Base in Fort Worth, Texas and Goosbay Labrador, Canada during the Korean War. After active duty, Hubert served in the Air Force Reserves from 1956 to I 960.

Hubert was employed by The United States Post Office in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. He began his career on the rail system in Chicago, Illinois and then worked as a time keeper at the Main Post Office. He received numerous awards for dedication, job performance, professionalism. and having few errors of time keeping on his job. He absolutely loved working for the Post Office. Hubert served our United States Government for 59 years and 2 months. He retired on June O I, 2011.

While in the Air Force Reserve, he met and married Lillian Ruth Stevenson in 1957. From this marriage, they were blessed with Whrea Elyse Whitley. After the Air Force Reserve, he moved his family to Chicago, Illinios and began working for the United States Post Office Rail System. In 1963, Hubert and Lillian divorced. In 1966, Hubert met and married Sandra Brantley. From this union. 2 children were born; Hubert Jr and Leontyne Whitley. After 21 years of marriage, Hubert and Sandra divorced. The  remained very good friends all the way to his transition from earth to heaven.

On August 19. 2024 at 10:20pm CST. Hubert heard he voice of Jesus say to him; WELL DONE THY GOOD AND FAITHFUL SERVANT. THOU HAS BEEN FAITHFUL OVER A FEW THINGS. I WILL MAKE THEE RULER OVER MANY THINGS. ENTER THOU INTO THE JOY OF THY LORD

(Matthew 25:23). He then took his last breath, left this earth, and ascended to Heaven. He will be missed, but we will see him again.

Hubert leaves an amazing legacy to celebrate his life: 3 children, Whrea (Rev. Michael) Booker, Hubert (Yvette) Whitley Jr, and Leontyne Whitley. 5 grandchildren; Latrisha Whitley, Traci Turner. Lee-David (Paige) Whitley, Cassandra Whitley, and Phylecia Whitley. 11 Great Grandchildren: Alyssa Whitley, Bruce Turner, Jalin Cooper. Ariana and Brasyn Turner, MalachI. Maiya. Marcellus, Mikko, Magnolia, and Mary Jane Whitley. And 5 Great Great Grandchildren: Logan Johnson, Messiah and Alyanna Whitley, Kenneth Moblin, and Bentley Turner. He also leaves his close friend Sandra Whit le , special cousin Adam Bonds, his retired postal employee co-workers, other cousins and friend . and the entire staff at The Missouri Veteran's Home in St. Louis, Missouri.

Well done dad!!! You were amazing and accomplished much!!!
