Rhonda Anita May was born August 9, 1953 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the third child of Alfred and Olliedean Ruth Roberts. Her father, mother, sister Faye, sister Deborah, and Sister Rita all made their journeys home prior to her death.
Rhonda was educated in the St. Louis Public School System graduating from Charles Sumner High School June 1971. She ran track, played field hockey, participated in gymnastics and was leading member of the Sumner High School " Marching Bulldog Band" and Orchestra. She also performed with the St. Louis Symphony and was a member of the Black Student Union. Rhonda also attended the University of Missouri, Columbia, where she studied music and journalism.
Rhonda married Clarence E. May on June 24, 1973. To this union they were blessed with three sons: Clarence, Jr., Aaron Nathaniel, and Daniel Oliver. She was determined to give her children the best that she could. She was a stay-at-home mom and educator until all of her children were in school.
After her children were in school, Rhonda went to work for Famous Barr as a sales associate. Over the next 21 years she held many positions and most recently store manager. She retired from Famous Barr in 2006.
Rhonda loved music. She loved reading and was an accomplished author. However, what she was most proud of and what mattered most to her was her family! She was a loving wife and raised three wonderful sons.
Rhonda leaves to cherish her memory: husband, Clarence May, Sr.; sons, Clarence E. May, Jr., Aaron N. (Angela)May, and Daniel O. (Brooke) May; grandchildren, Morgan, Cory, Tyler, Cain, Aryanna, Israel, and Aaron, Jr.; 4 sisters, Joyce Danitha Kpere-Daibo, Alfreda (James) Wade, Marlene Roberts and Cheryl (Rod) Horton; 3 nieces, Lisa, Ruth, and Jennifer; 5 nephews, Adrian II (Trina), Peter, Dean (Tara), Alfred (Mya), and Eric(Erika); 3 great nephews, Nicholas, Ira, and Ivan; 6 great nieces, Mia, Adaora, Selina, Aurora, Myla, and Rosalina; cousins, Ruth Ann Pearson, Vincent Vaughn, Jerry Vaughn, Timothy Bright, and many other relatives and friends.
